    Paul Shakespear awarded Sam and Adele Foundation for the Arts residency award

    The Sam and Adele Golden Foundation for the Arts is pleased to announce the second year of their Artists-in-Residence Program. Visual artists working in oils, acrylics and mixed media will attend the 2013 program starting in April, ending in November. Each residency session is 4 weeks in length, and includes materials and technical support from Golden Artist Colors, Inc. Open Studio dates will be posted for each session and all are welcome to attend.

    PBS series "Treasures of New York," an hour long film exploring the MTA Transit's program which commissions artists to create mosaics for the subways of NY.  Xin Song is among those interviewed in this documentary. Xin's work will be unveiled at the landmark Bay Parkway D line subway station this summer.

    Gallery artists Amy Cheng and Xin Song have been commissioned by the MTA Arts for Transit program to create mosaic murals for two subway stations. The artists work enhances the transit experience for commuters in Manhattan and its boroughs.  The program is a competitive one that is highly selective application process.

    Jung Hyang Kim LIG large scale commissions in Korea

    LIG Insurance Company (and LG) in Korea commissioned Hyang Jung Kim to do three large scale projects in Korea.  LIG and LG are known for their support of the arts in Korea.The commissions are as follows:

    Top:  two 6' x 60' back lit glass pieces, on both sides of the entry tunnel, of the LIG building in  Sacheon.  The building is not yet completed.  There will be an opening ceremony on June 17th.

    Middle: 24' x 30' lobby piece for the LIG office building in Busan City.

    Bottom:  A 13' x 155' outdoor mosaic piece for their new building in Sacheon.

    "Flow" (the sculpture in this photo) will be included in our exhibition, Strata of Memory:  Kevin Kelly + Ellen Kozak, 5/14/11 - 6/25/11.

    BETH GILFILEN awarded 2010 Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation grant for free studio space in Brooklyn

    The Space Program, offered by The Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation along with a Consortium of funders including: AOL, The Robert Sterling Clark Visual Arts Space Award, The Richard Florsheim Art Fund Award for Older Artists, Agnes Gund, The Pollock-Krasner Foundation, Inc. and The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc., announces grants to 17 visual artists selected from over 1000 applicants. A jury consisting of artists Matthew Deleget, Joyce Kozloff, Tim Nolan, Philip Pearlstein and Joanna Pousette-Dart selected the grantees for The Space Program.
     

    The Space Program, a national program now located in Brooklyn, NY (DUMBO) and in its 20th year, provides studios that are non-living spaces for the making of new works of art.
